SAFARI SPLITBOARDS
Freeride / Snowsurfing
Shape : Direct, 18 mm Taper, Camber with rocker at the nose
The Safari is a freeride surfing weapon.
Wider "Fish" shape with long nose and short tail is easy to ride in powder snow. The middle to soft flex makes effortless turning in middle to soft conditions and makes it easy to navigate the board between trees. The profile is based on camber, with rocker on the nose.
I SURF TREES, I SURF SLOPES, I SURF BACKYARDS, I SURF IT ALL !
Safari V3
The new Safari V3 is an evolution of the V2.
It’s based on the snowboard version, which has been a huge success, but I’ve adapted it further for splitboarding.
The basic features remain the same: a wide board, long nose, short tail, and tapered shape.
A long transition radius at the tip facilitates easy edge-to-edge transitions and minimizes drag during traverses.
The tail has a sharper transition radius so that the “Fish” accelerates well in turns. Compared to the snowboard version, it’s slightly less radical, as I expect that occasionally it will be necessary to ride switch while traversing the slope.
I shortened the nose by 10 mm and lengthened the tail to make the board easier to walk on, especially when balancing for “kick turns.” The Safari Splitboard is slightly narrower than a snowboard for better side-to-side walking on the slope.
The longer tail helps with forward stability while riding, especially when carrying a heavier backpack, and provides better tail grip, which always comes in handy in technical terrain.
The slightly longer tail also helps secure the skin to the tail clip.
The Safari is a great board for riding in powder and in the trees, but ultimately—if you can forgive its width when walking uphill—it’s also a fantastic all-around splitboard. Overall, it’s softer compared to the Enduro, which adds to its maneuverability in soft snow, though it might take a bit away from its performance in challenging terrain and when hiking up. The conclusion is that when I buy a fish-shaped board, I’m primarily focused on riding downhill, and I’ll always find a way to get uphill up.
Construction
The Premium, formerly labeled as X, features a super-sturdy construction with triaxial glass in both the top and bottom layers.
I have this triaxial glass custom-made by the industry leader in composite materials, featuring a unique fiber orientation at 0° ± 45°, and it reflects my many years of development.
It’s very precise to ride, excellently transferring pressure from your foot to the edge, yet still not aggressive; it’s easy to ride, with enough flex for powder riding but solid edge grip when riding over icy sections.
If you feel like you want a super-aggressive technical board, or if you want it to be 150–200 g lighter, go for the Pro version; if you’re a heavy, powerful rider, go for the Pro version; for everything else, the Premium version is the best choice.
